Preparation

Before installing OpenClaw, ensure your environment meets the requirements and prepare necessary accounts and credentials.

System Requirements

• Node.js: Version 18.0 or higher
• Docker: Docker Engine 20.10+ and Docker Compose v2
• Git: For cloning the repository
• Memory: At least 2GB RAM available
• Storage: 5GB free disk space

Required Accounts

Register accounts for the services you plan to integrate:

1. LLM Providers: OpenAI, Anthropic, or other model providers
2. Chat Platforms: Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp Business
3. Optional Services: GitHub for code operations, cloud storage providers

Getting API Keys

OpenAI API Key

# Visit https://platform.openai.com/api-keys
# Create new secret key
# Save it securely - you'll need it for configuration

Telegram Bot Token

1. Message @BotFather on Telegram
2. Send /newbot command
3. Follow prompts to create your bot
4. Copy the HTTP API token
